Operations Update - Coronavirus/COVID

Northwest Abatement Rental remains open with regular hours at our physical location, 8AM to 4PM, Monday through Friday. Our website will remain live throughout the outbreak 24/7, and for now we will continue to rent ship product orders in accordance with availability.

As the viral outbreak steadily worsens, please note that our product stock is being stretched extremely thin. We have more Edge-Guard temporary barrier and negative air systems being manufactured and on the way, however there is a two-week lead time until they are in stock and ready for rental.

However, Northwest Abatement Rental does currently stock Negative Air Scrubbers for rent here in our physical Bend, Oregon location. These do not filter out the miniscule size of a COVID virus particle, however they can be used to create and seal negative air spaces - vitally controlling the spread of COVID. These are going to be a vital piece of equipment in any hospital based quarantine, testing, or containment structure.

Although supplies are running thin, we also still have stock of a few units of Shockwave hospital-grade disinfectant. This is another product in which manufacturing time is growing by the day, so availability may change quickly.

We take this outbreak extremely seriously, and as such have taken actions to mitigate impacts that it may have on those around us. To limit any potential viral exposure and to promote social spacing, only one employee at a time is working at our physical location, while all others will telecommute and work from home on a daily basis. Furthermore, all products are subject to disinfection as rented and ordered. However, we cannot guarantee that products are not infected during shipping and handling, so we recommend all customers disinfect products upon delivery.

Learn How To Set Up A Mobile Containment Unit In My Latest Video

Our latest video details how-to set up an Abatement Technologies AG 3000 Mobile Containment Unit. This unit is one of our stocked units available for rent. Used by anyone from electricians, contractors, and HVAC companies, Mobile Containment Unit rentals are a great way to save money on a negative air containment unit.

Mobile Containment Units are used in applications that require negative air pressure. By using negative air in an enclosed space, all dust and contaminants are prevented from escaping the jobsite because they are filtered through a negative air machine with a HEPA filter. This makes their use critical in applications such as asbestos removal and hospital work, where dust can be especially harmful to patients. The AG 3000 rental units can work with ceilings up to 10 feet in height, and can be easily transported from one work area to the next due to its lockable wheels.

Mobile Containment Units can be shipped to any jobsite nationwide, so please contact us for a full quote including shipping. We offer steep discounts for monthly rentals, and extremely competitive weekly rates as well. Units are in stock and can ship next day.

Using Mold Fogger Rentals for Quick and Easy Mold Removal

Removing a source of excess water and humidity is always the first step in mold abatement, but it’s equally important to follow that by eliminating and preventing new mold spores. Because mold often grows in hard to reach places such as basements and attics, using a Mold Fogger is the quickest, easiest, and surest way to eliminate mold on all room surfaces.

Before any work around mold, it’s vital to take safety precautions by wearing latex gloves, an N-95 rated respirator, and goggles. Mold spores can cause a number of health problems such as respiratory distress and skin irritation - making the potential value of Mold Fogging very important.

A ULV (cold) Mold Fogger is a metal machine that turns a liquid mold killing solution into a fine mist, and disperses it throughout a closed space until the mold killing solution fills the room with a misty fog. Mold Foggers can be found online or rented through abatement suppliers like Northwest Abatement Rentals. By creating a fog of mold killing solution, every nook, cranny, and surface of a room gets coated; ensuring that all mold spores on all surfaces are exposed to the mold killing solution. Furthermore, fogging a room prevents new mold spores from taking root in the future, so fogging also acts as a great preventative measure against new mold growth.

Operating a Mold Fogger is easy. Begin by filling the fogger’s reservoir with a mold killing solution such as Concrobium (double check that your preferred solution is compatible with a Mold Fogger). This is easily done as the reservoir is attached to the fogger with four small clips; unclipping them removes the top of the fogger where the Concrobium solution can then be poured. Reattach the top of the fogger and it’s now ready to run. An on/off switch is found on the side of the unit along with an adjustable knob to control the flow output of the fogger. We typically recommend that the fogger is run at a medium speed setting; however for large open spaces the max flow setting may be appropriate.

Once set up, Mold Fogger operation is simple. Angle the nozzle so it’s not dispersing fog directly onto a surface, which you will see if liquid is building up on the surface your fogger is spraying towards. Then simply run the fogger for between 2 and 5 minutes in all four directions of the room being fogged. When the room is visibly foggy, turn off the fogger as fogging is complete. When finished the room should be left to air out.

Mold will be killed within the first 24 hours of fogging, and any lingering mold smell is typically gone within 48 hours. Mold stains will not be removed with fogging, however the mold will be dead, making any mold stains easy to wipe off by hand.

Dealing with Water Damage? Rentals Can Help!

After what was an extremely dry start to winter, those of us in Central Oregon (not to mention Tahoe and Northern California) have been getting slammed with record amounts of snow. While all of this water will be a great thing to have come summer, it can lead to an array of issues as the snowfall thaws.

Ice dam buildup is happening extremely quickly as daily temperatures begin to rise. These glacially slow moving rooftop buildups of ice and snow can wreak havoc on homes and businesses, often ripping down rain gutters and trim as they melt and fall. As ice dams move across roofs they can create substantial leaks and introduce tons of water into buildings, homes, and basements. As this water collects and sits, it often leads to mold.

Ice Dam damage currently on our own building, it has torn down the rain gutter
Fortunately, treating and removing mold is often much easier than it may seem. Mold Foggers can coat a confined space with a mold-killing and mold-preventing Concrobium solution. Dehumidifiers can remove all stored liquid from a space, even water behind drywall. And Air Scrubbers can keep air moving, and can filter out harmful molds resulting from extended water damage.

All of these tools are commonly used by contractors and homeowners alike to treat typical winter snow and water damage. While these tools are expensive to purchase, rental rates are very affordable on a daily and weekly basis.
